Using the Astrolab FLIP rover platform, scheduled to land on the Moon’s surface in 2026, LUNAR PRESERVE 00001 uses the imprint of the rover’s wheels to demarcate a boundary for a lunar nature preserve.
The rover will broadcast an internationally-recognized beacon instructing other spacecraft and lunar vehicles to avoid disrupting the area.
This mission is challenging and has no guarantees of success, however, all things worthwhile are risky.
Before research bases and mining operations arrive, this project will stand as the first human-constructed work on the Moon—a small gesture with historic consequence.
