TOWARDS: NEW YORK

TOWARDS tells the story of individuals moving toward each other and their vision of a world they want to inhabit.

The installation becomes a video backdrop for collaborations with groups like The Brooklyn Chorus, New York Poetry Festival, Site-Specific Dances, Accent Dance Company, The Juilliard School, and more. The project includes a collaboration with Artists for Humanity, where teens will learn how to design, build, and deploy complex projects in urban conditions.

TOWARDS: NEW YORK is a key artwork for West Side Fest, a free, multi-site celebration organized by the West Side Cultural Network, featuring free admission to participating institutions, special programming, artmaking, and performances. The festival aims to welcome New Yorkers to the culturally vibrant western edge of Manhattan. Participating Organizations involves over 20 institutions like The Center for Art, Research and Alliances, Chelsea Factory, Dia Chelsea, The High Line, Hudson Guild, Hudson River Park, The Joyce Theater, The Kitchen, Dia Chelsea, CUE Art Foundation, the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Shed and many others. The festival includes diverse activities, artmaking for all ages, performances, workshops, and more.

TOWARDS is a project by Michael Murphy and Samuel Stubblefield, with support from Hearthland Foundation.
